♻️ Giving Plastic a New Life: PET Felt Lecture & Design Workshop

🗓 March 21, 2025
📍 Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych im. Antoniego Kenara, Zakopane, Poland

Our final day of mobility in Poland focused on recycled materials in design, with a special emphasis on PET felt—an innovative textile material made from recycled plastic bottles. The day combined a lecture and a practical design workshop. The lecture was attended by students, teachers, and even members of the local community.

Lecture: Recycled Material in Artwork – PET Felt

We learned about how PET felt is made, its properties, and its potential uses in contemporary art and design. Plastic waste can be transformed into a durable, soft, and versatile material, ideal for sustainable applications ranging from interior design to fashion and art installations.

Workshop: Designing with PET Felt

After the lecture we had a hands-on workshop, where students worked in small teams to design a lamp shade made from PET felt. Participants experimented with cutting, shaping, and assembling the material to create creative and functional designs.

This event not only introduced a circular material but demonstrated that designing with waste can be both beautiful and meaningful.
